NaPoWriMo 2013, Day 5

Today’s prompt is to write a poem from a cinquain which is a poem that employs stanzas with five lines but I can’t seem to write that. So I chose to write about someone close to my heart. My poem is about my dear grandmother who recently passed away.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 5: My Dear Grandmother

My dear grandmother, was my favorite girl.
Oh how she looked so young.
She talked ever so softly in a caring voice,
and when she walked her steps were fast.
Her mind was filled with so many memories,
and her heart was ever so loving.
We would talk on the phone for hours,
about the past and the present.
Oh how I miss hearing her voice and laughter.
My dear grandmother was so very special to me.
She will always be a missing piece of my heart.
I can’t wait until the day that I see her again,
and we laugh and talk for hours just like we used to.
Until that day, I will long for the moment we meet again.
My dear grandmother, I love you and miss you so much.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 4

Today’s prompt is to write a poem from a title drawn from a spaceship name that comes from Iain M. Banks. So this is my poem about being silly.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 4: Now You’re Being Silly

When you jump up and down in the rain and you fly your hands in the air, now you’re being silly.

When you laugh out loud while eating worms, now you’re being silly.

When you ride down the road on a bicycle built for two, now you’re being silly.

When you play the piano with your toes, now you’re being silly.

When you stand on your head while wearing  a dress, now you’re being silly.

When you bob for fish instead of apples, now you’re being silly.

When you walk down the road with your cat on your head, now you’re being silly.

When you got to work with leotards and clown shoes, now you’re being silly.

When you juggle with spaghetti, now you’re being silly.

When you drink milk out of the hole in a paper cup, now you’re being silly.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 3

Today’s prompt is to write a sea shanty but I struggled with it so I came up with something that has more meaning to me. So here is my poem that tells a story of a homeless man.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 3: I Am Homeless with My Dog

I am a homeless person. I am thankful, appreciative and love with all of my heart. I don’t take anything for granted because I don’t have much. God is good to me.

Some people walk by me on the street and turn their nose up at me or look the other way. I just smile at them anyways. Some days I don’t eat because I don’t get any money. If a person walks by me on the street and throws a quarter into my cup, I am gracious because it’s more than what I started with. If I get fifty cents, I can buy my dog a bone. If I get one dollar, I can by some food for myself. My dog is my best friend, my only friend and I will feed him before I feed myself because he is always there for me. For the man that feeds his dog before himself is unselfish and kind.

When it rains or snows we find shelter under a bridge or in an abandoned building to keep from getting wet and cold. Sometimes it is very cold out but as long as I have my warm clothes, some cardboard or newspapers to cover up with, and my dog has a blanket, I am satisfied. The summer is the best season because I am no longer cold and I can take a bath in the river and wash my clothes.

The man that has less, values things more. I am a man with nothing but my best friend, therefore I value everything. The world is beautiful and each and every day I take time to reflect on what I have. I am alive and that is enough to be thankful for. I am homeless and I am happy.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 2 (2nd post)

I am writing another one for today because I am feeling inspired and I don’t want to miss out on today’s fun prompt. So for a poem that tells a lie, here it goes…

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 2 (2nd post): Animal Lies

All animals are spotted, have webbed feet and weigh no more than fifty pounds.

A dog meows, and a cat barks, a pig says baa and a lamb oinks, a horse squeaks and a hamster whinny’s, a bear chirps and a bird growls, a turkey buzzes and a bee gobbles, an owl moos and a cow hoots, a whale quacks and a duck sings, a hyena  hisses and a snake laughs, a seal croaks and a frog barks, a wolf screams and a peacock howls, a tiger cackles and a hen roars, a walrus chants and a falcon groans. Just some of the sounds animals make.

A cat loves going boat fishing because they like to jump out of the boat and into the water to catch the fish for you. A pig loves to be in the house because they like to cook.  A whale makes a great barn animal because it loves to graze in the field. A bear makes a great shopping buddy because they love to try on new outfits. A snake makes a great bed buddy because they like to lay their head on a pillow. A bee loves to go to work with you because they can fit right in your purse and hang out on your pen all day. A frog is great for entertaining because they like to have tea and cookies. A tiger makes a great airline companion because they like the window seats. A walrus can keep you warm at night. A falcon can fly you from one state to another. Just some of the many things animals can do.

All animals have the same personalities so therefore you can put them all together and they will get along just fine.  Animals are no mess free because they clean up after themselves. So if you’re looking for a new friend, a travel companion or a bed buddy get a bear, snake or a walrus. It will be the best decision you ever made.

NaPoWriMo 2013, Day 2

NaPoWriMo 2013, Day 2: Today Is A New Day

Everyday is a fresh start, a new beginning, a time to move forward. You can reflect on the past and what you need to change about yourself but finding the inner strength and will power to make yourself the best person you can be, will give you self-worth and a purpose for living. Learn to love yourself and others and look for the best in people. Life will be more rewarding and you will shine. For you are the only one who can change yourself. Happiness and joy comes from within and brings out the inner beauty in yourself. Make it an everyday conquest to smile, give, love and appreciate the beauty in people and the world. For you are a beautiful person.

NaPoWriMo 2013, Day 1

NaPoWriMo 2013, Day 1: My Thoughts

I am not a writer but I have many thoughts. If only I could get my thoughts down on paper or in a post then put them all together to create a poem or a novel. Where do I begin or what do I say? I am not a writer but I am going to begin to learn and this is where I start. Tomorrow will be another day.
