NaPoWriMo 2013, Day 5

Today’s prompt is to write a poem from a cinquain which is a poem that employs stanzas with five lines but I can’t seem to write that. So I chose to write about someone close to my heart. My poem is about my dear grandmother who recently passed away.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 5: My Dear Grandmother

My dear grandmother, was my favorite girl.
Oh how she looked so young.
She talked ever so softly in a caring voice,
and when she walked her steps were fast.
Her mind was filled with so many memories,
and her heart was ever so loving.
We would talk on the phone for hours,
about the past and the present.
Oh how I miss hearing her voice and laughter.
My dear grandmother was so very special to me.
She will always be a missing piece of my heart.
I can’t wait until the day that I see her again,
and we laugh and talk for hours just like we used to.
Until that day, I will long for the moment we meet again.
My dear grandmother, I love you and miss you so much.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 4

Today’s prompt is to write a poem from a title drawn from a spaceship name that comes from Iain M. Banks. So this is my poem about being silly.

NAPoWriMo 2013, Day 4: Now You’re Being Silly

When you jump up and down in the rain and you fly your hands in the air, now you’re being silly.

When you laugh out loud while eating worms, now you’re being silly.

When you ride down the road on a bicycle built for two, now you’re being silly.

When you play the piano with your toes, now you’re being silly.

When you stand on your head while wearing  a dress, now you’re being silly.

When you bob for fish instead of apples, now you’re being silly.

When you walk down the road with your cat on your head, now you’re being silly.

When you got to work with leotards and clown shoes, now you’re being silly.

When you juggle with spaghetti, now you’re being silly.

When you drink milk out of the hole in a paper cup, now you’re being silly.
